Assistex Picture Book Set | 12 Softcover Photo Books for Adults

A photograph can be enjoyed without a question to answer or a story to tell. This Assistex set brings together 12 softcover picture books featuring animals, landscapes, flowers, and other subjects. Each book has 28 pages of full-color photographs, with minimal text: some include large-print names of the pictured subjects, while others have no text beyond the title.

We carry this at EOWD because looking through a book can be an activity in its own right. Adults can choose a subject they enjoy and browse at their own pace. Caregivers sharing the set with someone living with memory loss can follow their interest in a photograph without asking them to identify it or recall a particular memory. We understand that a shared page does not need to become a test or produce a conversation to be worthwhile.

A favorite animal or landscape offers a place to begin, and turning the page is always optional. Find a subject that interests the person browsing, whether independently or alongside someone they trust.

These books support optional photo browsing and shared activities, not treatment. They do not treat dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or any medical condition, and do not replace professional care or individualized support. Respect the reader's preferences, offer assistance appropriate to their needs, and avoid pressure to remember or respond. Individual responses vary.
